Ceramic studio Pot Viapori

Pot Viapori ceramic studio, founded in 1972, is located in an old cannon hall bastion Palmstierna, in the historic Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pot Viapori plays an important role in Finnish ceramic art and it is an integral part of Suomenlinna fortress cultural and artistic activities. From the Market Square in the center of Helsinki it is just a 15-minute sea ferry ride to the fortress islands.

The sea, visually exciting island environment and the changing seasons create an inspiring atmosphere for artists who work at Suomenlinna. The well-equipped, bright working spaces offer privacy as well as a chance to have fruitful interaction among colleagues.

Currently the artists at Pot Viapori are ceramists Saana Murtti, Johanna Ojanen, Soile Paasonen, Pirjo Pesonen and Tiina Tarvainen.

The Association Pot Viapori has organized every five years a celebration exhibition, involving both artists currently working and those members who have worked previously in the studio.

The annual summer exhibition in July/August and Christmas sales event on first weekend of December offers visitors the opportunity to explore our art work and premises. We are open to the public on Fridays at 12–16  in spring and autumn during Suomenlinna Art Walk events .

Then you can always meet some of our artists.

If you wish to visit us at other times please contact us and make a reservation. (pot@potviapori.fi).

Please, welcome!
